School Council Needs Your Help

Robert Thirk High School’s casino dates are Saturday February 14 and Sunday February 15, 2026, at PURE Casino – 1420 Meridian Road NE. This is the time where your volunteer efforts can help raise enormous funds for Robert Thirk High School!

 

Our fundraising efforts will be contributed to supplies (including technology) and equipment for our school; teaching residencies to help enhance learning; transportation if needed for field trips, sport events etc. and much more!

We appreciate your time and contribution in helping us raise money to benefit the school!

Grad Photos

The website is officially open to book grad sessions. Please find attached the grad flyer for graduates and their families to sign up for the photos. 

 

The booking link is https://schedule.prestigeportraits.ca/schedule/home.html  Students and parents will search by Postal Code, then School Name. 

 

 

Textbook Returns

Please remind your student that ALL textbooks and English Language Arts novels from semester one (or previous years) should be returned to the Learning Commons as soon as possible.

Students who require specific resources for final assignments or assessments may keep those books and return them immediately upon completion.

 

All semester one resources must be returned before signing out materials for semester two.

Athletics

·         Basketball season is well underway. Currently, our Jr Boys are sitting at the top of their division, Sr Girls are in 3rd and Sr Boys are in 4th. Next league games are on Jan 20th for girls and Jan 29th for boys. Basketball playoffs are the first week of March.

·         Badminton season starts Jan 28th. Details about tryouts will be public shortly.

·         Spring sports (Rugby, Field Hockey, Boys Soccer, Track & Field) start on Mar 9th

 

 

Success Center

Semester 2 Timetable Changes

Grade 11 or 12 students who are requesting timetable changes for semester 2 need to book an appointment with the Success Centre or drop in at lunch time prior to the deadline of Friday, January 23rd. Timetable changes will only be considered for the following reasons:  Supporting course off-levelling (ie. Math 20-1 to Math 20-2), meeting high school graduation requirements, or fulfilling post-secondary admission requirements. There will be no form, and the Success Centre will not be meeting with students for timetable changes after this date. 

 

For Grade 12 students specifically registered in Social 30-1 in semester 2 who are considering a move to Social 30-2, please specify that Success Centre would like to meet with them by Friday, January 16th. 

 

Please note that students' timetables for semester 2 are still subject to change to support balanced classes.



Transition to Post-Secondary Education for Students Experiencing Disabilities

For any student who may have an IPP and interested in learning more about accessing academic accommodations in Post-Secondary, there is a free event being held on Saturday, February 28th 1-3 PM at St. Mary's University Campus. Registration is available via QR code on attachment provided, RTHS Instagram, or Success Centre D2L page.

    • Grade 10 and 11 students: During Connect, Success Centre will be providing important information regarding course registration for the 2026-2027 school year. Information will be shared to families prior to to support the course registration process
    • Grade 12 students: During Connect, Connect teachers will share out updated credential reports from Alberta Education that show your child's progress towards earning their Alberta high school diploma

 

  • Thursday, March 26th 
    • Youth Hiring Fair: Youth ages 15-24 are invited to the attend the Youth Hiring Fair! Hosted by The City of Calgary’s Youth Employment Centre (YEC), this FREE event welcomes 80 employers and over 5,000 job seekers.
