Grad Fundraiser
Friday, January 16th, 2026, the Grad Committee will be hosting our first ever Movie Matinee fundraiser in the theatre. Tickets will be sold for $5 a piece in advance with select seating in The Space the first week back after Winter Break. Priority will first go to the graduating class and then open to all students. Any remaining tickets will be sold on a first-come-first-serve basis at the door the day of the event. The Committee has chosen The Lego Batman Movie as our first screening with a runtime of just under two hours. The movie will start promptly after classes end that Friday - theatre opens at 1:45 and the film will start at 2:00pm. Popcorn will be sold at the door for $2/bag with all proceeds from ticket and snack sales going towards the Grad Committee fund.

School Council
Semester 2 Timetable Changes
Grade 11 or 12 students who are requesting timetable changes for semester 2 need to book an appointment with the Success Centre or drop in at lunch time prior to the deadline of Friday, January 23rd. Timetable changes will only be considered for the following reasons: Supporting course off-levelling (ie. Math 20-1 to Math 20-2), meeting high school graduation requirements, or fulfilling post-secondary admission requirements. There will be no form, and the Success Centre will not be meeting with students for timetable changes after this date.
For Grade 12 students specifically registered in Social 30-1 in semester 2 who are considering a move to Social 30-2, please specify that Success Centre would like to meet with them by Friday, January 16th.
Please note that students' timetables for semester 2 are still subject to change to support balanced classes.
Post-Secondary Specific Inquiries
Grade 12 students who have specific questions related to their application status, program information, residence, etc. at specific post-secondary schools are advised to reach out directly to student recruiters. Here is a link (located on RTHS' website) to the contact information of student recruiters across Canada and also links to application information and financial aid.
Scholarships
Scholarship opportunities are continually updated in the Success Centre D2L Shell. Success Centre also recently posted upcoming scholarship opportunities for January 2026 on our school site listed here,
Schulich Leader Scholarship *Posted in Success Centre D2L Shell for students as well*
Successful applicants could receive up to $120 000 scholarship if pursuing an
engineering degree and $100 000 scholarship if pursuing science, technology, or math degree.
To be eligible, students need to be on track to graduate in the 2025/2026 academic school year;
be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident; and plan to enroll in an eligible STEM program at
one of the partner universities listed here. Additionally, students must meet the following
criteria: academic excellence; evidence of leadership, charisma, and creativity; and be
entrepreneurial-minded and intend to pursue a career in either technology, engineering,
entrepreneurship and business enterprise, or applied scientific research. Strong consideration is
given for students with financial need.
Robert Thirsk High School is able to nominate 1 student. To be considered, students must submit
1-2 page outline to your guidance counsellor by Friday, January 16th, 2026 that indicates how
you meet the following criteria:
• Academic excellence
• Entrepreneurial leadership in science, technology, engineering, or math
• Outline your top achievements (Academic or other)
• Financial need (if applicable) and extenuating circumstances
• Include universities and faculties that you are applying to
Submit using point form, paragraphs, or any creative way you choose to explain how you meet
the criteria.

Youth Programming (Trellis)
Free programs for youth aged 12-24 in Calgary and surrounding area. Trellis Youth programming provide a safe, welcoming place for youth to come outside of school hours, make friends, and participate in activities that encourage learning, expression, and a positive connection to community and family.
